Greek mastic or "tears" of Chios is a natural tree resin and a Designated Product of Origin (DPO) produced almost exclusively in the island of Chios in the so called mastic villages. It's characteristic taste has a refreshing aroma described as that of pine/cedar taste. Did you know that Chios mastic has been used as a traditional medicine over the last 2.500 years?!
It's taste is something really to be experienced! It creates a unique aromatic depth when paired with mahlep, a fragrant spice derived from the ground seeds of St. Lucie cherry tree.
