Traditionally made in Greece with sheep's/goat's butter, our saragli is made with clarified butter of sheep, goat and the addition of ghee for a milder, smoother taste that leaves an elegant and complex aftertaste on your palate.
The filling is a combination of nuts, carefully rolled in thin phyllo pastry, kissed by that fragrant butter and slow baked until golden, crunchy and crispy.
So satisfying to hear the syrup touching the hot pan after baking! These little buttery-syrupy bites are absolutely delicious and among the most popular type of baklava style sweets in Greece.
Raw, ground pistachios on top give that fresh contradiction to the roasted nuts inside the phyllo and rose petals lifts both taste and colour profile while giving an elegant result. Just the perfect gift!
